Re: Wrathful deities

I found this point interesting. There are wrathful deities that belong in a greater context of manifold tantra to the peaceful mandala. And wrathful deities similarly belong to wrathful mandala. The way to distinguish the instructions of the peaceful mandala include stages of pranayama and sequentia...

Re: Wrathful deities

Something interesting from the Guhyagarbha, Longchenpa says whether one is better suited for peaceful and wrathful depends 1) one one’s primary affliction, whether being harmful or lusty, and 2) the relative strength of the primordial mandalas of the heart chakra or crown chakra. So harmful = peace...

Re: Wrathful deities

1. What would be some of the pros and cons for practicing with a wrathful deity? 2. Does one achieve quicker progress with them as opposed to peaceful deities? 3. Are wrathful deities suited more for people who possess deeper afflictions? Something interesting from the Guhyagarbha, Longchenpa says ...

I'll ask these questions, because someone reading will inevitably wonder:

Is it advisable in any situation to practice a wrathful deity without a teacher?

If not, are there any practices related to wrathful deities which one can undertake while looking for a teacher?
Nope.

I think distinction btwn peaceful and wrathful deities comes down to one’s own perpetual capacity for nondual truth.

Lineage heads make good starter lamas.

Re: Does it matter if you reveal your yidam?

In the traditional idea if you don’t keep secret you lose siddhi. If you keep secret you gain siddhi. Lamas are teaching us so they are saying what to keep secret.

I was told those things too, but there’s no downside to purification of negativity. They tell folks sitting for big exams, if you’re an alcoholic don’t try to quit during your study. You’ll succumb to pressure. There might be something to be said if you’re in the middle of something don’t rock the b...

Re: What is Buddhahood?

I think many people struggle to believe in Nichiren Buddhism because of a misunderstanding of what the word Buddhahood means. In other words, what is the point of practicing if we don't even know what we are practicing for? I wish there were some really good answers out there as to what this term m...

Re: Karma and insanity

I don't actually think that. I've just phrased it a bit poorly in trying to get my question across. It could be better phrased but I suppose I lack the correct language.... Lets see if I can rephrase it here... A person who has no free will, a mad or disordered person or even a baby, does not have ...

In Troma, there is a special Guru Rinpoche guru yoga one practices in connection with those practices.
That must be part of the longer sadhana
No, it is an entirely separate practice. The liturgy is quite short.
I see. I didn’t see that in the daily sadhanas.

I am really struggling with this.. I really do not have strengths and appetite to go through this life, but obivously I don't want to go vajrahell or any kind of hell for that matter. Im stuck. Vajrayana takes Buddhahood as the path, the trikaya. So the body is precious deity and the world and envi...

Also ch 13 of Longchenpa’s Dispelling the Darkness of the Ten Directions.

The 17 tantra specifically mention Vajrasattva, Padma Heruka (Hayagriva) and Vajrapani.
