When registering, I'm asked a captcha about the Noble truths, but the answer is wrong no matter what you choose (1 to 5).

Thank you, :anjali:

Re: Music time

Brand new Beatles song. No, really, using AI and pieces of their unfinished song, they were able to make a new song, completing the one they started decades ago.

Re: Brussels sprouts

If someone invites me to dinner and serves me a plateful of brussels sprouts, do I have to eat them to avoid aversion? This might seem like a silly question, but it's to help me understand the principle. Many thanks. Yes, in my opinion if someone invites you over and took the time to prepare a meal...

Re: Brussels sprouts

Cooks of my mother's generation boiled cabbages and sprouts relentlessly. They weren't cooked until they were grey. :crying: :coffee: Kim Mine too and that sulfur smell that comes out especially with extended cooking is probably why a lot of us don't care for them. If they were cooked in a differen...

Re: Your interest in other Buddhist sects

EDIT: Okay, I did some search and based on your post https://dhammawiki.com/index.php?title=Original_Buddhism , 60% Modern theravada, 20% Pudgalavada and 20% Mahasamghika/Mahayana/Chan/Zen, I now understand what you meant. Correct, no real "certified" teachers in those schools, but we can...

Re: Love in the time of degeneration

Not speaking about the situation in the OP, but just in general. No double-standard, if one holds the same view to both males and females. For example, something like the view of: It's okay for a man to have been promiscuous before settling down to LTR or marriage. AND It's also okay for a woman to ...

Re: Your interest in other Buddhist sects

I follow and practice, in this order:

EBT, Theravada, Chan, Zen, Mahasamghika, Pudgalavada.

And I was married in a Tibetan Buddhist temple. I'm very non-sectarian.

Bodh Gaya marathon

Found this over at DWT.

https://bodhgayamarathon.com/

If I was going to be there and if I was in better shape, I probably would have done it.

Sounds like a nice path, with great scenery and the historical places.

Re: Monasteries in the EU that accept married lay people

Me and my wife live in Spain. We are wondering if there are monasteries, especially Theravada, in the EU, who accept a married couple to come and live there as lay people. We can work in the monastery / work outside of it and support it. You might want to also ask on our sister-site, the Theravada ...

Re: 5 foods to avoid by Dr. David Sinclair

I would be careful with nuts, since most of them contain antinutrients. It's a defense mechanism, because plants don't want you to eat their means of reproduction. I've heard that if you soak the nuts or even better, dry roast them, that eliminates or neutralizes that coating. Most nuts that are av...

Re: 5 foods to avoid by Dr. David Sinclair

I have heard celebrities and Silicon Valley people are taking metformin, for the longevity claims. In recent years, researchers have found that Metformin not only leads to weight loss but may also have other health benefits. It appears to slow down aging, improve lifespan, and delay chronic illness....
