Re: Recovery and social work
Here in Norway, they also talk about providing treatment in stead of jail for druggies. I haven't heard about any Buddhist involvement, but I saw a documentary where a general yoga teacher are doing yoga with the inmates. I saw a documentary some years ago about doing Vipasanna in the jails of India...

Re: ChNN on Jesus?
Even if ChNN says Christ was enlightened, it's up to yourself to make up your mind.
It's like scrutinising your own teacher, even ChNN himself.

By the way, I heard that USA is the least racist country in the world. That would say something about other countries.

Re: Showing your real picture
Yes, the popular impression of Norway here is of some sort of utopian paradise, yet we know that Samsara is endless, indeed. And the American Dream is a hallucination? I am kind of glad I live here, but I thought of emigrating to USA for work. But all countries have some fault or another, seems so....

My own center is 1 hours drive. But I don't own a car, so with public transport it takes 3,5 hours. You say you live in a small town with zealous Christians, but you live close to San Francisco and that's a big city. Well, take a break and go out for a meal in a restaurant and visit your Dharma cent...

10 million sounds like a big number, although it could be. What I heard. I don't know how it is counted. For the most part, it appears that 99.9% of Americans are pretty ignorant regarding Buddhism. We don't need them to be knowledgable about Buddhism. Just do your best in daily life. There are som...

When you are expressing an opinion, start the sentence with: "I believe..." or "My opinion is..." Ah, my dude! I believe not in anything but Nirvana. Otherwise, my beliefs are just mind-made views. My opinion is what I say already. When you don't have a frakin' clue: Don't say a...

That's very fair, because on this forum you need to be perfect all the time. Like I griped about on another thread. Warn you, this forum is also part of Samsara and no less crazy. lolclimb-up wrote: it would be fair to say that most here wouldn't question that they have a solid understand of Buddhism!
