Re: Hello Everybody
Ah much to my dismay these particular pigeons have come home to roost....my total lack of media familiarity becomes quite patently obvious ..... Dr Nick I presume? But in some lame attempt at maintaining face I respond.....if that was a trailer park boys reference I would have gotton it right away. ...

CG You are absolutely correct and peoples do do those things, they rationalize them. On the other hand however criminals do exactly the same thing quite often. They justify/rationalize their behavior by stateing....well if they did not expect that this thing would be stolen they would not have it so...

Cat ...This all from a layperson with little understanding of things to again state... Be advised that in Tibetan Buddhism consciousness is considered to be a composit. There are considered to be eight consciousnesses. Six of which are considered unstable or momentary and two which are considered s...

CG I don't know how it is where you are but in the US one may get animals that are due to be killed from the pound or get abused animals from the humane society. I do not agree that having one of these animals from these places can normally be considered a faulted choice. Certainly we obtain comrads...

Re: The Middle Way - H.H. the Dalai Lama
Well I do not maintain that I am doing any such thing as this.... "Why not be honest and refrain from reificationist ungrounded assertions?" I suggest a one line retort fairly rarely suffices to refute contentions made that approximate the better part of a page. Everyone is of course entit...

Re: The Middle Way - H.H. the Dalai Lama
Well this seems a complex issue. From my limited layepersons view..... Consciousness may be thought of as a object. Personally I think of it as a quality. Without a object to be aware of we can not be aware. As per Shantideva... 61. If consciousness is that which does not know. It follows that a sti...

Hi KS I noticed the many nautical references and suppose that speaks to a more close to sea/ocean existance. Living in the desert/mountains I enjoyed it. Back at you.....I have ridden many a (internet) horse over the years, from corral to campfire, chuck wagon to round up. Had some give out beneth m...

Re: Be A Voice for the Voiceless
To my view we should not confuse what is happening and has happened historically in China with communism. This is a totalitarian state with few social programs and private ownership of business, which bears little relationship to a communist state, other than by name. That said, that is very nice to...

Re: Buddhist Declaration on Climate Change
To my take.... the essential problem is overpopulation. This is rarely ever discussed in global warming or other envirnomental discussions. The world is simply not able to sustain 6 billion or more people. I'd guess some people religions say we must go forth and multiply but by my take these are also...

There is absolutely no wrong or right answer. As a child I had a sick dog of about 9 months of age who had Parvil. At that time I was able to attend to him exclusively and with much care, and the dog survived to live quite happily, and in fact became a excellent specimem of dog, very strong and musc...

Re: Stop Torture In Tibet
Horrible actions by a heinous dictatorship of a select group running a totalitarian government. I have contended and continue to contend China lacking such social amneties as social security and health care for all, bears no resemblence to a true communist nation. They do not even qualify as sociali...

Just some random "thoughts"
Night quiet, 17 degrees F. Snow crunching underfoot. Cold freezes nostrils. Dogs in hand two, walking, hiking at altitude, national forest, no beeze. Moonlight. Path in snow, trail, all white. no peoples here in several days, deer tracks, coyote yelps, breath, thoughts. As thoughts are spreading fro...

Thank you for your kind words. I consider myself a success if during this lifetime I advance my compassion by the minutest of one ioata I consider myself initially as a infant and young child not very compassionate at all. So success seems not that hard a task to endeavor. So I do consider this life...

Generally no I do not participate in this. It seems to serve no purpose. If I do want to feel dizzy and lightheaded for some spiritual purpose, as in watching mind....I may hike uphill at a high altitude at a very fast pace while attempting to chant a mantra of longish duration. That works quite fin...
