Re: The Yogis of Tibet

The topic has been started in 2021. Lately it has been necroed with a general and not discussive remark. But now some try to discuss with three year old posts, which may lead to confusion. Therefore I lock the topic. Whoever wants to add anything to this topic, please just start a new topic referri...

Re: Looking for a genealogy of scripture / lineages

I looked on the website where I read that overview on lineages years ago, and it's unfindable for me. Here on studybuddhism.com I found an overview about only Nagarjuna's works. Quote: (...) Among the many texts on sutra topics that Nagarjuna wrote are his Collections of Reasoning (Rigs-pa’i tshogs)...

Re: Looking for a genealogy of scripture / lineages

(I believe, your question is scientific - you're looking for an overview. Therefore I moved your topic here into the Academic Discussion subforum. I suppose it fits here best.) I once saw such an overview online. It was not regarding scriptures but teachers. It showed, how e. g. many different line...

Re: What are options for an insect infestation?

Greetings: My apartment has become a bit infested with small flying insects. They do no obvious harm, but there are more by the week. I don't want to kill them and it's too cold to try to catch them and put them outside. Has anyone seen any teachings on this topic that could be of help? Many thanks...

Sorry, I made a trial of keeping the discussion factual by removing some posts with factually incorrect contents, as well as posts that were quoting them.

Re: Subforum suggestion

This forum need chatbox, not subforums. We had one for a period of time. But somehow a real conversation happened only rarely at the beginning. After some time of the chatbox's existence no talk at all took place. I have no clear idea, why. Maybe the time lag between the continents makes a real-time...

That photo doesn't show a statue for worshipping. It's a figurine in the wax museum where famous people are depicted.
So, context matters always.

Please note, that most posts in this thread are older than 6 months already.
Because the main purpose of this topic is not discussion but exchange of practical ideas, I believe it may stay unlocked over the years without causing confusion.

Re: Love

When we talk about love; is it love of humanity, love of a girl, existence or love of what? I believe, it's supposed to mean 'unconditional universal love'. Or at least compassionate love. It seems to me, language (at least English and German) fails to find many different discriminating words for '...

Re: Subforum suggestion

I have no idea, if we need so many subforums.
Maybe threads are better findable then.
But if only very few people engage there, it might look poor.
In worst case only one or two people engage a whole subforum.

Therefore it would be interesting to read some more people's opinions on that suggestion. .

Re: What is supposed to be kept secret? What isn't?

I believe, that is the quandary of this thread: If it's resticted, it's not even appropriate to mention it. Therefore, we cannot list restricted texts or deities here. One could only talk about it very generally and keep unclear about practices and texts. Maybe I'm wrong, but I assume, who engages v...
