hi there

Post by KristenM »

Hi (again?)
My name is actually Kristen and I am pretty new here. I am completing Ngondro with my Nyingma teachers and group in Santa Cruz, California area. But, I live two hours from there and where I reside there really are no other Buddhists, unfortunately. I'm hoping to find in this forum a group of friendly, inspiring people that I can connect with from my home. I took refuge vows and such years ago, but I am working on being a better practitioner. Less intellectualizing, more internalizing. :) Perhaps here isn't the place for that, but I am optimistic! Seems like quite a few of you are really quite impressive in your depth of knowledge on all things Dharma related.

best,

Only 105? We were 114 yesterday, but now it's "cooling" down to 100.

Hi. Also, for what it's worth I have a degree in Asian Studies with an emphasis on Indian Buddhism from University of Texas in Austin and took two years of Sanskrit. I really don't know much, but the fascination remains one of my greatest passions in life.

I think having this kind of foundation is very useful. My teacher encourages a scholar/ practitioner approach.. although saying that i am not a very theoretical sort of person and enjoy diving into the practice head first!

let me add that my actual knowledge base is at the most rudimentary level. I should have clarified that. Now, had I continued my education in masters or PhD level, that would be more impressive. I only have a masters in psychology now.
