Hello From Brazil

Post by Infinito » Wed Oct 02, 2019 5:43 pm

Hi. My name is David Lucas and I'm from Brazil. Although my interest in the area I call "spirituality" is vast and varied, I have a special attraction to the buddhism. So, I'm finding this forum incredible.

I don't know if this topic is appropriate but I'll start with a doubt that I suppose is commum.

It's about the difference between the types of buddhism. A recommendation to a text, a book or even a topic is enough to me. I'll appreciate recommendations about the best books about the many types of buddhism as well. Again, I'm sorry if this session of the forum is not appropriate to these doubts. I'm sorry also if my english is bad.

Thanks.

Peace, love and light to everyone.

Welcome to the Forum!!!

It's hard to find an objective and accurate description of the different schools from one source (and I don't think David's link above quite puls it off) but Peter Della Santina's book comes as close as I have seen.

Welcome.
You can easily search the site for anything that interests you. Please feel free to comment on anything of interest.
I usually use a site-specific search in my browser, i.e. searching for
site:https://dharmawheel.net search-term
where search-term is what you're looking for.
Since the forum has been going for so long, there will be huge numbers of results for most common terms. Google Advanced Search lets you restrict results by date, and that can be handy, too.

There is also the recent book by His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Thubten Chodron:

which looks are the commonality and differences between the various Buddhist Traditions in regards to core teachings like dependent arising and selflessness.
