Hello from a quiet NYC

Post by Eric1/7 » Wed Mar 25, 2020 3:10 pm

My name is Eric. I have been just watching here for about a week, and what a time start! And there's just miles of exploration here, just like Buddhism itself. That's one of the many appreciations I have for this all. The learning and practice to me seems endless.
About myself, to get to the point, I am a recent discover and lets say "appreciator" of Buddhism. I just finished reading, The Life of Buddha by Bhikkhu Nanamoli and I realize this was a great place for to start. I have been a practitioner and follower, to the best of my abilities of Zen for a number of years. To me, it's a never ending learning process. I'm not so sure though about joining any type of groups or societies though. I also feel I am a long ways off of passing on what I'm learning, but do feel I should as the moment makes itself known. Nice to be here.

Those who, even with distracted minds,
Entered a stupa compound
And chanted but once, “Namo Buddhaya!”
Have certainly attained the path of the buddhas.

-Lotus Sutra, Expedient Means Chapter

There are beings with little dust in their eyes who are falling away because they do not hear the Dhamma. There will be those who will understand the Dhamma.

Glad to hear it is quiet there now. The NYC needs a nap. Welcome.

Hello! New to this site but also in NYC. Good to see others in the city in the same place given the quarantine!
