did Buddha made this prediction?

Post by ShineeSeoul »

Hi there

I was scrolling around websites and I cam upon this one

http://www.meditationthailand.com/16predictions.htm

after the 16 prediction, there is part 2 of Buddha prediction that is outside the 16 dream

I didn't understand what sutta they are part of and it is mentioned as:

"A group of pilgrims undertook the mission to go to India to bring relics of the Buddha and the Bodhitree in B.E. 2484. They replicated Buddha’s predictions from a stone inscription at the Deerpark in Benares as follows:"

I have tried to research about people who traveled to India and found those stones but there is no result

I am interested to know about this prediction which Buddha tells that the world would be destroyed

so if you know which sutta this is in or what it is it, please share it, thanks

With a bit of searching I found it was in the Mahāsupina Jātaka. I wasn't too surprised to find it isn't a 'real' sutra, actually, because it has the style of a folk tale.
A Thai-trained Theravadin monk gives a lot of information about it at https://dhammawheel.com/viewtopic.php?t=10807 (yes, that's the 'other' Wheel, but hey, you were looking at a Thai site to begin with. )
