I realize that only about 5% of the Tibetan Canon has been translated ( http://read.84000.co/section/O1JC11494.html ) - but I"m still interested knowing if there are any similar Sutras in both the Tibetan Canon and Pali Canon. I've been searching by Sanskrit titles (of the Tibetan canon books) - hoping there might be overlap in Pali, but so far no luck.
I'm just doing simple searches on Google. I'm not a scholar so I don't really know how to search for an answer to this question. I heard a video on youtube about a scholar talking about the same sutra in Tibetan and Pali is written/understood differently. I found that very interesting and wanted to learn more.
Are there any overlapping sutras in the Kangyur and Pali Canon
Re: Are there any overlapping sutras in the Kangyur and Pali Canon
Unfortunately only a few. That's a pity...
I remember reading Malcolm recently saying that a royal decree (by Relpachen I think...) actually limited the amount of Hinayana sutras transalted.
