It looks quite positive at a glance.....but I'm not ready for Frankenstein food any time soon.

Yeah I hear ya lol. My stance is just that if it could prevent having to actually kill animals(a violation of the 1st precept.. ahimsa) to eat meat or have leather products, then that's a good thing.
