Standing on stake in one position helped me with severe pain and limited
mobility of my arms.
Once you get past the intense shaking at 8-10 minutes it gets easier and
working up to 45 is when things started to get better fast.Relaxing is key.

Garchen Ronpoche was asked if it would be ok to visualize seed
syllables while standing on stake Qigong and he said it was not
a good idea to mix them.

Never thought of combining qigong and sadhana practice. :D I always thought of qigong as a great way to train in mindfulness and also prolong healthy portion of life a bit. I think it is perfect secondary practice, doesn't lead to enlightenment by itself, but can create the needed foundation. :)

Every temple and monastery under Thich Tinh Tu teaches stick qigong, and for just those reasons: an activity that uses the whole body that helps to promote mindful engagement with the body and environment, health for the joints and tendons specifically, and some light discussion on energy work is covered too. It's an excellent supplemental practice.

as we are exercising our mind, the body also needs to be strong to follow the path.
