I go barefoot around my home and garden for about 9 months of the year - tropical climate. And I will hike barefoot where it's safe and comfortable to do so.
I like the direct contact with the ground, the flexibility and stability of my feet responding to the surface I'm walking on, but I'm not as committed to it as this mob - http://www.barefooters.org/books/ - which I came across while looking for something about Dorothy Butler - https://janeelix.wordpress.com/2011/07/ ... ushwalker/.
