Does anyone have an idea, what is on the upper floors of Mahabodhi Temple? My lama told me, that during seventies you can enter also there and he saw there Buddha Statue with crown. But according to some very old photos, there should be at least three shrines.

So I am curious, why they are closed for public.

Impressions of Mahabodi Temple at night.

May all beings in Nepal, Tibet and India affected by the April earthquake quickly receive all the necessities of life. May all beings be protected. May help quickly arrive for all. May all beings who died be reborn in the Pure Lands.

The upper 2 floors deteriorated somewhat in the medieval period.

Then the British reconstructed the whole site.

Maybe there was some access in the 70's, but I imagine they closed it up due to preservation concerns.
Just recognize the conceptualizing mind.

Morgan Freeman is narrating a series on National Geographic channel about the world religions and there were some nice scenes of the Maha Bodhi Temple in last Sunday's episode, "The power of miracles."
