Here's an updated link for this that seems to be more recent (2014):

Is it this one? http://www.khandro.net/deity_Amita_TengaR.htm
About This Sadhana

This Amitabha sadhana is a terma teaching called "The Space Dharma" (Tib. nam chös), revealed by a tertön, Mingyur Dorjé. It is a 'realisation-terma' that arose within his mind, with visions of Amitabha, from whom he received these teachings. Rigdzin Minjur Dorjé was an emanation of the translator Vairocana (8th C.), and of Shubu Palji Sengé. Karma Chagmé brought the tertön to his residence at Nédo, and when these visions and instructions from Amitabha came to Minjur Dorjé, Karma Chagmé wrote them all down. There are 13 volumes of these teachings.

Looks like a very interesting practice. It's at the same time both similar and yet very different from the way Amitabha and Sukhavati are portrayed in east asian Pure Land (though perhaps more consistent with Shingon). Kind of hard to explain without going into a lot of detail, but even some of the apparent differences are reconciled when you take a wider look at various points of doctrine. As a practice, it definitely looks a lot more involved than even the Meditation Sutra (佛說觀無量壽佛經). I imagine having a teacher to help you get started with this practice is an absolute must. I couldn't imagine trying to do it just from reading the description (though I'm not a good practitioner).

Came across today
Bankei Zen: Translations from the Record of Bankei

I've only read 'The Unborn,' so it was nice to come across this.

enjoyed this passage;

'The crows go kaa-kaa, the sparrows, chuu-chuu

The Master addressed the assembly: "Just as always, every day when I come out to talk, toady too the crows go kaa-kaa, the sparrows, chuu-chuu, and I haven't anything different to say myself. All the same, when you really acknowledge this one word ['unborn'], you'll find everything is smoothely managed.

"The proof of this is that, while all of you here are turned toward me, intent only on hearing my sermon and wondering, 'What's Bankei going to say?' you aren't trying either to hear or not to hear the cawing of the crows and the chirping of the sparrows out in back. But, even so, once they start to chirp and caw, you recognize and distinguish the crow's kaa-kaa and the sparrow's chuu-chuu. And it's not only for crows and sparrows: everything here, when you perceive it with the Unborn, will be simultaneously distinguished, and you won't overlook even one thing in one hundred or one thousand. In the meanwhile, if a gong rings outside the temple, you know it's a gong, if a drum sounds, you know it's a drum. Your distinguishing everything you see and hear like this, without producing a single thought, is the marvelously illuminating dynamic function, the Buddha Mind that is unborn."

I do not know if you are familiar with the Pacific World Journal which can be found here http://www.shin-ibs.edu/publications/pacific-world/, but starting with the Third Series Number 1 there is a history of Pure Land Buddhism in China. That particular article may not focus on devotion per se, but you may find some references to it in the articles. You may find many other articles of interest throughout the whole collection of journals, but the one I listed is what first came to mind. Scattered throughout all of the journals, I am sure there will be some articles on devotionalism, but as there is so many articles I have been unable to read through them all as of yet. I figure I would mention it, because over all it is an excellent source for knowledge of Pure Land Buddhism.

I am thinking more about how the idea of invoking the name of Amitabha for one's enlightenment originated in ancient India. Though the exact origins of Pure Land Buddhism may be shrouded in mystery, it's clear that the earliest Mahayana Buddhist writers such as Nagarjuna and Vasubandhu endorsed Pure Land practice.
