Unmoderated Forum

I think it would be balanced and fair to have a sub-forum that was UNmoderated.
That means, even if it goes OFF topic, it can continue naturally...as one thing leads naturally to another...interdependently....
I think ADULTS can moderated themselves (or not)
Those that get REALLY rude or unacceptable, can be called out by the group itself, in this experimental sub-forum.
We can talk about Dharma, or whatever we want.

I think, the Lounge is quite unmoderated. I can't remember having done much moderation in the Lounge. But maybe my memory is bad.

Edit: And not all of our members are adult. We have teenagers as new members quite often.

That sounds like a horrible good idea.

I would suggest that it be a private forum, visible/accessible only to users who request access.

If we had a no holds barred forum, though, I would want to restrict kiddies, and I'm just not sure how we can do that while maintaining anonymity.

The outcome of that policy is Freesangha. :alien:

Well, here it would just be a sub-forum. An alternative. An experimental sub-forum. Not the whole forum.

Why ?

People here are relatively civil. I just think deleting posts all the time, makes it boring.
I think threads are more interesting when people can say what they really think.

I second this. I've been on forums where this existed, it was indeed pretty horrible. Occasionally hilarious, but overall terrible.

Well...I've never been on a unmoderated forum. I went to Freesangha a few times when it was new, but never saw anything strange going on.
I just think it is devious to not see exactly what goes on, because moderators always have to CLEAN IT UP...and THAT MAKES IT BORING .

I guess i'm more of a pulp fiction kinda person. :jumping:

Yes, it seems so, but that's because all the really noxious stuff has been vanished.

They can say what they really think. Moderating just means they say it politely. It is more conducive to intelligent discussion.

And before some cockhead jumps in and says: "Look who's talking". I am a prime example of a person that needs to sometimes have bits cut out of their statements in order to not provoke (needless) conflict. I'm happy that somebody is there to do it otherwise, well we all know what happens otherwise... ;)

Well, that is boring...i want to know what people really say & think, not some whitewashed Dick & Jane story book.

The truth is real.

To avoid further repetition this topic is locked. One can still comment in the poll thread with same title.
