Quotations or Traditional Sayings

Post by madhusudan »

I remember a teaching that any truth that agrees with Buddha's teaching is equal to Dharma. Do you know any traditional sayings, or quotes from famous people from history that echo Buddha's truths?

Here's one from my great grandmother: "And this too shall pass."

Another favorite: "First, do no harm." Hippocrates

true dharma is inexpressible.

The bodhisattva nourishes from bodhicitta, through whatever method the Buddha has given him. Oh joy.

The below quotes are historical, but not necessarily from "famous" people.
“Change is the only constant in life” - Heraclitus
“Change is inevitable. Change is constant.” —Benjamin Disraeli
