Good on Greg for doing what he does. It sounds like much more is needed though, both in terms of infrastructure and people.

Yes it is a terrible situation. Greg did an excellent job in getting his point accross in the the interview (the snippet of it we get to see).

Accent? What accent? And no NZ that I can detect.

Your willingness to speak, Greg, has surely helped to highlight this issue. Well done!

There is some NZ accent there in the background.

But it's probably most apparent to native down-under people...

Nice interview, Greg, you present really well!

Just saw this - wonderful you're there to help increase awareness of the plight of these folks, Greg.

Here is a newspaper article that I was interviewed for.

This is much more in depth.

Very sad to hear that the conditions these refugees have to endure after having already fled and suffered so much. Very difficult for Greece & those who are pushed into action by the deluge of humanity too - there's absolutely no excuse for violence against these people, but when you get an out-of-control situation like that, even the relief workers can become numbed and overwhelmed. Easy to criticize a policy of containment, but for a country with its own troubles, it must be a legislative and practical nightmare to shake loose the funds & resources to do more & integrate. Looks like these folks aren't getting a better shake in Turkey either.

Canada took in some Syrians and we have some families up north too, but to integrate a few families into a stable and relatively flush society is one thing, to have entire traumatized villages show up on your doorstep something else altogether. FWIW, I'm glad that at least some of these people have contact w/ Greg and others with training and compassion - I'm sure it must be very frustrating to be so limited in what you can do, but a genuine comfort and understanding which can be a boon until something else can happen.

Thanks for the article.
