Something happened?

I wouldn't know, as I don't visit sites that promote NKT and their kind.

It's an NKT thing? I thought it was run by Theravadins.

Buddhianet is working fine as far as I can see.

It has nothing whatever to do with NKT. It was started and is run by a Australian Theravadin monk, Ven. Pannyavaro, from a retreat centre in Northern NSW. Buddhanet was one of the very first public websites, about any subject at all, to go live, in around 1995 or so (from memory) and has been running ever since. A wonderful resource.

Good to know, it was one of the first online Buddhist resources I became aware of, and was a huge part of me getting active in Dharma. I never noticed any NKT stuff there.

It is not an "NKT thing". I said it promotes NKT, which it does. This website lists Buddhist centers around the world, and that includes NKT-related centers as well as non-NKT centers.

It means that these guys have no quality control whatsoever in terms of what's included in their lists, since they include anything and everything in their lists. Just check for yourself.

They do not include 'anything' in their e-book offerings. Matter of fact I found no NKT books listed. They seem to prefer Chinese Mahayana & Theravadin, with a few from FPMT.

It seems you don't understand what I am saying. I am not talking about ebooks at all. Please read my post again.

I am specifically talking about its lists over centers/organizations and similar around the world, in the Americas, Europe, Asia, etc. Where in many of these countries listed, they also include NKT centers and similar. That is what I am talking about. This means they have no quality control.

By listing such centers, they are promoting their presence, whether knowingly or not. And that's not good.

I do understand - you have found a blemish and you cannot abide that flaw in the site.

Nor have I.
None of the search results I found on DuckDuckGo seem to work either.
A search found their FB page - https://www.facebook.com/pg/buddhanet.n ... e_internal - which was last updated three weeks ago, but the link to the site from that page doesn't work either.

Maybe only USA gets thru - I use DuckDuck also and it works fine for Buddhanet.net & their Facebook page.

I'd talk to your ISP after seeking the simple solutions, e.g. clearing cache etc, I've checked consistently and not found it down.

I just checked again and found that it is (still) down for me.
Perhaps you could tell them there's a problem? I can't even do that because the 'contact' link on their FB page goes to their website. :toilet:

Hi Kim - I have their page open in my web browser here, there’s a Report Technical Problems - I might post something there, although not quite sure what to say. Should I post the URL of this thread, perhaps?

//update// actually that link is disabled, but I can drop him a line if it will do any good.

Well, they obviously have a problem, even if we don't know what the problem is, and they may not even know they have a problem so ... yes, it would be good to make them aware of it.
