Two Truths Sauvignon Blanc

Post by Wayfarer »

Wasn't even shopping for this variety, but then, as soon as I saw it, I had to buy it, and as soon as buying it, had to post it here. (I might try and find out later as to how it came by its name.)

If you drink that whole bottle you will find out one of the two truths and it will come out of one or
the other end of your body.If you are unlucky you will find out both truths.

Well so long as it goes in one end, and out the other, then it will have performed as expected. I'll keep you posted.

(I suppose it's a bit uncool posting about such things on a Buddhist forum, but then, I did post it in Lounge.)

I just noticed that the producers of "Two Truths" also have Greek roots. It must be the Bactrian influence...

An unpretentious wine, empty and yet eminently conventional.

The real question is -- do you drink it all at once, or gradually.

Here in the UK we have a special piece of glassware called 'Just the One'. It's a wine glass which can hold the entire contents of a bottle so we can truthfully tell the doc we only have 'just the one glass' in the evening. Sipped gradually, one glass can last an hour or so.
The perfect present for the deluded drinker. :)

Gradually. I don’t altogether abstain from intoxicants, but I usually stop well short of intoxication. [But I get the double entendre ;) ]

Actually after taking that photo, I read the label on the back of the bottle:
There are always two sides to a tale, two versions of an event, two truths to every re-telling. When we set out to make this wine, we had in the back of our minds the Latin phrase In Vino Veritas, ‘in wine there is truth’. When gathered around a table with friends, a glass of wine in hand, companionship is everything and truths flow freely. [Then a brief description of the style].
Quite a satisfactorily ‘philosophical’ bent to this label, and I do wonder whether the idea seeped across from Buddhist culture. It’s not entirely unrelated, although perhaps the last instance of “truth” might be better enclosed in quotes.

For the benefit of those who aren’t familiar with the phrase, a brief recap of the Two Truths teaching:
Two truths (Skt. dvasatya; Tib. བདེན་པ་གཉིས་, denpa nyi, Wyl. bden pa gnyis) — everything has an absolute aspect, or absolute truth, and a relative aspect, or relative truth. The absolute or ultimate is the inherent nature of everything, how things really are. The conventional or relative is how things appear. In the teachings, these are known as ‘the two truths’, but they are not to be understood as two separate dimensions, rather as two aspects of a single reality.
From http://www.rigpawiki.org/index.php?title=Two_truths.

I have always found this principle indispensable since first learning of it.

Until then we remain all human. More or less*

nice post (we should have a skull amongst the smilies!)
Ho! All the possible appearances and existences of samsara and nirvana have the same source, yet two paths and two results arise as the magical display of awareness and unawareness.

"1984" anyone?

Speaking of Two Truths Blanc, this just in from the Ministry of Truth. A new Doublethink axiom has been released: "Truth isn't truth". You will display these words prominently and never forget them. Your tele-screens will monitor your actions.

Have a nice day.

At the liquor store stocking up on essentials when I found this in the Water of Life section. Cost too much but reminded me of this thread.

There is no suffering to be severed. Ignorance and klesas are indivisible from bodhi. There is no cause of suffering to be abandoned. Since extremes and the false are the Middle and genuine, there is no path to be practiced. Samsara is nirvana. No severance achieved. No suffering nor its cause. No path, no end. There is no transcendent realm; there is only the one true aspect. There is nothing separate from the true aspect.
