The Worship of Donald Trump

Post by The Cicada » Fri Aug 24, 2018 2:31 pm

What's the reason for this? Do many celebrities get this treatment in India or is reverence for "the God Emperor" something unique?

India has a rich spiritual environment. Like any lush garden left untended, noxious weeds thrive on the same nourishment as beneficial and pleasing plants.
Those who, even with distracted minds,
Entered a stupa compound
And chanted but once, “Namo Buddhaya!”
Have certainly attained the path of the buddhas.

They also worship monkeys, snakes and cows. So, Donald Trump as a poisonous or stupid animal fits good in this list.

There is a divine spark in every creature, according to Hinduism. Maybe this is what those guys are trying to worship. Or maybe they badly want the Green Card and they came up with this strategy after reading "The Art of the Deal"..

the Green Card
Well, he has discriminated against one religious group... he responds to flattery so a cult devoted to him might very well get a preference.

Whatever gets you an edge on those visa and green card applications.

But on the other hand, the cult of Trump is still way behind the Professional League

Hairy Krishna?
“Trump’s grand and vulgar self-absorption is inviting all of us to examine our own selfishness. His ignorance calls us to attend to our own blind spots. The fears that he stokes and the isolation he promotes goad us to be braver, more generous.” - James S. Gordon.

Putin had the advantage that the Russian Orthodox Church had centuries of ignorance to form around the Czar. All he had to do was slip into the role. Just add gold leaf to prompt feelings of awe and devotion.

Per Newsweek, he said:
“My family and village people call me mad. Once they suggested I should visit a psychologist. I told them ‘I don’t require any, maybe you should go’ because he is my god and I am not bothered about stuff others say,” he said, according to Australia’s 9 News.

"The essence of meditation practice is to let go of all your expectations about meditation. All the qualities of your natural mind -- peace, openness, relaxation, and clarity -- are present in your mind just as it is. You don't have to do anything different. You don't have to shift or change your awareness. All you have to do while observing your mind is to recognize the qualities it already has."

How long until the US elects one of those as POTUS, in your opinion?

So, if this is the best suit you own, you shouldn't trust the guy whose name is on the label. Sounds about right.

Check out what the Thai Theravādins are up to. Superman, Captain America, and David Beckham holding up their temples. It's a wild world.

Superman, Santa Claus and Indra were waiting for the bus.

Who was waiting for the bus?

Nobody. There is no Superman. No Santa Claus. No Indra.

No, Queequeg, no Coëmgenu, no Cicada, no Donald Trump. Thinking that Trump is an issue is only due to ontological misapprehensions. What one calls "Trump" is only a reflection of one's own mind.

It's kind of fun to see Trump as a demon, the flip side of a god. His role: To mercilessly expose us to ... ourselves.

Alas, poor Donald, I see you more as a clueless frightened sociopathic old geezer who happened to wander into the throne room (of the asylum) when no one was looking.
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily ...
