Monks and Tigers
Tashi delek,
Amazing these monks. They have the power to walk with tigers, feed them and ride even on them.
The most tigers are rescued. The Chinese like the medicine of the tiger paws for some "medical" reasons / applications.
Like we know , Chinese are very cruel to animals and they don´t care if tigers , elephants and rhinoceroses are killed.
All in all a good and nice job to be befriended with the tigers. Will visit the place when i am in THailand living, that is sure.
=======================
Wat Pa Luangta Bua is a monastery of meditation, situated far away from any civilization, about 200 kilometers west of Bangkok, and here, silence, peace and harmony reign. Every afternoon, a daily ritual is observed -- nonchalant Buddhist monks take their ten 3-5 year old tigers out on a leash for a walk through the bordering region of Burma. They dote upon their tigers, feed them and celebrate them as their most sacred animal. The monks treat grown-up animals with reverence and respect although they cuddle and play with the cubs.
The tigers were once the "aristocrats" of the jungle of South East Asia but today, this undisputed ruler of the animal kingdom is one of the most endangered species in the world. Three of the eight subspecies are already extinct, a fate that could also overcome the others. Only an estimated 500 to 2000 tigers of Indochina still inhabit the intact jungle regions of South China, Burma, Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia and Vietnam. This documentary portrays the harmonious relationship between predators and humans without disregarding the monk's maxim that "a tiger will always be a tiger, even if it feeds from the hand. It will always be a wild animal".

I have heard some of the Monks in Thailand are very good with the wild elephants also.
Re: Monks and Tigers
If it is like this tiger camp, they will be selling off body parts to the highest bidder.amanitamusc wrote: ↑Fri Oct 05, 2018 12:26 pm I have heard some of the Monks in Thailand are very good with the wild elephants also.

Re: Monks and Tigers
Tashi delek,
Very sad that this can happen.
Thai monks and Thai monks are two that is what we all know.
We have in Thailand also this commercial sect or modern monks which are despised by the older generation monks.
They have a lot of money and power in Thailand.
Guess that this Thai monk camp belongs to the modern Thai monks.
The Thai government is investigating these modern monks already some years.
All in all very sad that "monks" can be busy in this kind of trade.

I would not consider the ones involved as monks or even Buddhist.kalden yungdrung wrote: ↑Fri Oct 05, 2018 3:08 pm Tashi delek,

Yeah, there is also long time allegations, that they simply drug the animals, since it is not natural behavior for tigers.. Westerners naive in their thinking often fantasize about this romantic connection 'buddhist monks and tigers' thinking how wonderful buddhism is.. and how peaceful mind is transmitted to wild and dangerous animals... it is how business could grow on tourists. The other side is Asia eating just everything, for crazy reason of power and long life. It is also show of status if one can afford expansive tiger skin, or tiger wine etc. Both sides WandE are just complete idiots concerning tiger/monk romance.
Re: Monks and Tigers
well there are many business oriented monks in Asia... and many misguided buddhists in the west.. both funny just different type of dellusion.amanitamusc wrote: ↑Fri Oct 05, 2018 4:12 pm

Illusion is sometimes difficult to understand.
Mostly like in this case, understanding /insight happens afterwards .
Understand that the Asian people especial the Chinese, eat everything and they see in general animals only as a source of magical medicine. Therefore not strange that Thais do this business.
But it is frustrating that they do it in the guise of a monk who are ordained.
Here we can conclude that it are not the monk / nun robes who make from a person a monk / nun, but his / her behavior.

Meant by this example that there are a lot of very rich Chinese living in Thailand.Fortyeightvows wrote: ↑Fri Oct 05, 2018 5:04 pmLike we know , Chinese are very cruel to animals and they don´t care if tigers , elephants and rhinoceroses are killed.对不对?.Understand that the Asian people especial the Chinese, eat everything and they see in general animals only as a source of magical medicine
BKK has the largest China Town outside China.
It are these people who like Tiger paws etc. for medicinal use.
So if the Thai monks are corrupt and finally bad monks etc. then this tiger camp serves for business and the Chinese have the connections and the money.
China is via Laos not far away.
