Awesome. Thanks for sharing this. I only know a bit about Western Renaissance astrology, while my knowledge of Eastern astrology's been limited to films, fictional novels, and a few non-fiction books. I can't wait to go through Dr. Jeffrey Kotyk's other academic papers.

Very interesting.
I am aware that there are still lots of Chinese immigrants to western society (like Canada & USA) which still practices their traditional astrological beliefs, such as lunar calendar astrological prediction, zodiac personality tests, etc ...
For some people, it seems traditional festivities makes life more colorful and fun; and as long as it's not harmful or too overly dogmatic - then why not?
