500 Million Hotel Guest Records Stolen in Data Breach

Post by Virgo »

This concerns the records of 500,000,000 guests of hotels under the Starwood conglomerate. The conglomerate is the largest hotel conglomerate in the world and has been owned by Marriott since 2016, when they acquired them. Marriott says that Marriott guest records may not have been effected as they use a different system than the rest of the hotels. The hotels owned by Starwood include Westin, Sheraton, The Luxury Collection, The Four Points by Sheraton, W Hotels, St. Regis, and many more.

With regard to hacking, there are two types of company out there: the ones that know they’ve been breached, and the ones that don’t yet know. The same applies to governments.
