Is there any rule to prostrations?

And in particular footnote 250 "There are three kinds of prostration:
(1) encountering the view [...]
(2) training in meditation [...], and
(3) devotional prostration [...]
Ideally one should incorporate the view of the first type of prostration and the visualization of the second and one practices the third"
