Is it useful to listen recorded sutras?

Is it useful to listen recorded sutras? Or must it be livestream? Any good karma from listening recordings?

Listening to the dharma is one of the 3 Prajnas so yes, it will be a virtuous act/karma and positive traces are left..If you have the correct motivation (bodhichitta) while listening then it will be both a virtuous and liberative karmic act. Even more so if rather than just hearing the sound, you actually listen and reflect on the meaning and then more on top of that if you then meditate until that meaning is seen for yourself. Then dedicate that merit for the benefit of all beings and it's multiplied even more.

'Through the wisdom that comes from hearing, you are able to recognize the disturbing emotions.

Then through the wisdom that comes from reflection, you are able to overcome the disturbing emotions temporarily.

And finally, through the wisdom that comes through meditation you conquer completely the enemy of negative emotions, and obtain the confidence of the inexpressible wisdom of discriminating awareness.'
