Akaniṣṭha Gandavyuha location

Post by jhanapeacock »

Is akanistha gandavyuha outside samsara? or are we living inside it? if the mandalas are symbolic representations of akanistha gandavyuha it means we are already there (?)

akanistha gandavyuha is inside samsara, but it is one of 6 level of the akanistha buddhafield (Akaniṭṭhā,pali) the highest of the pure abodes/mansions (Suddhāvāsā, pali) of the brahma-worlds (Brahmaloka, pali) in the form realm (Rūpadhātu, pali).
the other mansions in the brahma-world below are Sudassīna (Sudṛśa), Sudassā (Sudarśanā), Atappā (Atapā) and Avihā.

the other realm above is the formless brahma-world (Arūpabrahmaloka, pali), where you can find these worlds: ākāsānañcāyatanūpagā (Ākāśanantāyatana), viññāṇañcāyatanūpagā (Vijñāṇāntāyatana), ākiñcāññāyatanūpagā (Ākiñcanayayātana) and nevasaññāsaññāyatanūpagā (Naivasaṃjñāsaṃjñāyatana)
nevasaññāsaññāyatanūpagā (Naivasaṃjñāsaṃjñāyatana) is the sphere of neither perception nor non-perception. the lifetime is up to 84.000 aeons (kalpa). In this sphere, the formless beings have gone beyond the negation of perception and have reached a stage where they are no longer concerned with "perception" (sañña), but are also not wholly unconscious. This was the sphere that (allegedly) Uddaka Rāmaputta has reached, the second teacher of the Buddha. He saw this as equivalent to enlightenment.

Akaniṭṭhā in the Pali-Suttas are the same place as Akaniṣṭha in the Mahayana-Sutras and Vajrayana-Tantras. It´s localized in the realm of form (Rūpadhātu) in the world of gods (Brahmaloka). This is inside samsara.
1) lcang lo can; 2) Akani h a, [1) = 'og min stug po bkod pa'i zhing] Buddha field of Akani h a Ga avyuha)/ [highest pure land, the unsurpassable buddhafield, "below none" [arch] deities' level the unexcelled highest realm (the fifth of the gnas gtsang ma lnga among the (28 in the realm of form), 2) pure land of vairocana, rnam par snang mdzad. in nyingma terminology is used to indicate an "invaluable" inner experience see longchenpa's dpal gsang ba snying po de kho na nyid nges pa'i rgyud kyi 'grel pa 2) the place of [[sangs rgya ba, the fifth of the gnas gtsang ma lnga or gtzang ma'i gnas lnga. (= never-returner) the highest (one of the dge 'dun nyi shu 8th, highest realm of the fourth dhyana and form realm, hence 'not below' any others.] [IW]
Akaniṣṭhā ('Above All'), the Pinnacle Pure Land. Mahāvyutpatti: अकनिष्ठाः ॥ akaniṣṭhāḥ ॥ 'og min ॥ འོག་མིན་གཟུགས་མཐའ The six meanings of are given by Buddhaguhya in the Visionary Commentary: 1. The genuine Akaniṣṭhā of the space of phenomena is the place where all buddhas reside; hence, no place is above this pure land. 2. The symbolic Akaniṣṭhā of inseparable wisdom and phenomena appears in the shape and color of a celestial palace. This is the abode of the sambhogakaya; so it symbolizes the pure land of the space of phenomena, for which nothing is higher. 3. The awareness Akaniṣṭhā is the wisdom awareness that realizes the fundamental nature of things just as they are. This is the abode of the dharmakaya of twofold purity, so there is no higher awareness than this pure land. 4. The secret Akaniṣṭhā is the secret place of the consort. Given that this is the abode of the secret kaya, nothing is higher than this path, its place, and its noble qualities. 5. The conceptual Akaniṣṭhā is the beginner's visualization of the palace. This is the abode of the surpassing samadhi mandala; hence, based on the generic image, there is nothing higher than this understanding. 6. The worldly place of the Akaniṣṭhā is one of the five pure abodes of the gods. This is the abode of all sublime ones; so within the realms of form, there is nothing higher. [Erick Tsiknopoulos]

No. read the ganvyuha sutra . Its not a perishable realm, its beyond time or space and its not created by ishvara (mahesvara). Mahesvara is said to be the ruler of ordinary akanistha. This realm is supposed to be even beyond. There are various akanisthas, im asking specificly for the gandavyuha one.

I think Gandavyuha particularly is Vairochana's buddhafield. Akanistha more generally, I think, can be any of the buddhafields of the five classes.

Apparently Malcolm said this before:
Malcolm wrote:Akaniṣṭha Gandavyuha is outside of the three realms completely. It can only be accessed by bodhisattvas of the eighth bhumi and beyond.
