Zhiyi (Chih-I) study group led by Rev. Jikai

Post by rory »

Gassho everyone:
in the Tendai forum we're having a study group of Zhiyi's famous work the Mohe-zhi-guan/Maka Shikan/ Great Calming and Contemplation, we're using the new Paul Swanson translation but don't worry if you don't have the book as Rev. Jikai, a Tendai Shu priest is posting the material. It's a great opportunity to study and understand this famous work of such a great master! Everyone is welcome; please join us:)

Chih-I:
The Tai-ching states "the women in the realms of Mara, Sakra and Brahma all neither abandoned ( their old) bodies nor received (new) bodies. They all received buddhahood with their current bodies (genshin)" Thus these verses state that the dharma nature is like a great ocean. No right or wrong is preached (within it) Ordinary people and sages are equal, without superiority or inferiority
