The four means of converting beings to the Dharma are generosity (which itself as four aspects: giving material gifts, conferring fearlessness, loving kindness and teaching Dharma), pleasant speech, conduct and setting an example.
What is the difference between conduct and setting an example?

Thanks.

They are closely related. Through our conduct that embodies bodhicitta we are setting an example for others and inspiring them to practice Mahayana dharma.

Through right conduct we set a good example for others to follow, however if our conduct is unskilful then of course we are setting a bad example for others to follow.
The example we set for others is a reflection of our own conduct.
Good luck and best wishes.
