bless mala before use
Is there any way to bless mala before use without mantras that require transmission?

Give to a master and ask him/her to bless it.haak0n wrote:Is there any way to bless mala before use without mantras that require transmission?

Yea, you can use the dependent origination mantra, which doesn't require transmission.
In English:oṃ ye dharmā hetu prabhavā hetun
teṣāṃ tathāgato hyavadat
teṣāṃ ca yo nirodha
evaṃ vādī mahāśramaṇa svāhā
All phenomena arise from causes
Those causes have been taught by the Tathāgata
And their cessation too has been proclaimed by the Great Śramaṇa

Re: bless mala before use
There are other mantra for blessing the mala which do require transmission. Try to get at least one of these if you can. Every Lama knows at least one. They will multiply the effect of every mantra you say. Some practitioners only bless their malas during the first session of the day. Some bless their malas at the beginning of every session. This is one of the skillful means of Vajrayana which make it (relatively) fast and easy to practice.

Rinpoche mentions nothing about a transmission for it though...Link
Mala blessing mantra
OM RUCHIRA MANI PRAVARTAYA HUM (7x)
Recite this mantra seven times and then blow over the mala. By doing this, whatever mantra you recite that was taught by the Buddha, the Tathagata, will increase more than one hundred billion times. This is taught in the Sutra of the Unfathomable Celestial Mansion Developing the Jewel.

Didn't know that mantra came from a Sutra. Since I received it as a lung, I assumed it needed transmission. Nice to know it doesn't.
