lung ta

Post by naljor »

When lung ta is low, this means that the drala is inactive and that we need to ‘accomplish’ drala to increase the life force of the windhorse. We have to bring life forve and energy to the drala. Orgyen Tobgyal Rinpoche

Nope.

And that *is* a considered reply.

It sounds like he's talking about lungta practice in a similar way to Trungpa. :)

There are also specific practices for raising one's lungta. Often these are done along with sang and serkyem.

For instance, both Dudjom Rinpoche and Pegyal Lingpa composed prayers to be said while offering sang specifically to increase lungta. These prayers invoke the various Deities of the four directions (Dragon, Garuda, Lion, Tiger), four elements, eight trigrams, magic square (mewa), planets, constellations, and lunar mansions, etc. Each sloka/stanza ends with a request to increase one's lungta. I'm sure there a numerous of these lungta sang prayers/pujas from various different terma cycles. These are just the two that I know/do.

You would need to receive lung/oral transmission for these, but if you're looking to specifically increase your lungta, I highly recommend this.

A quick BTW: When doing both sang and serkyem, sang should always come before serkyem.

Sorry to go off topic. Is there a reason for doing sang before serkyem?

Purification (bsangs) in this case should come before the offering of the beer in a golden cup (gser skyems). Skyems is the honorific for chang. We must purify ourselves before the gods will accept our offering. This is likely based on the ancient nomadic Tibetan custom of having visitors to one's camp pass through juniper smoke (to prevent communicable diseases) before they are offered repast.

If one is doing sang, then do sang first. If not, well, just go ahead with the serkyem.

Have a look at Great Eeastern Sun book by Chogyam Trungpa, there are chapters "Discovering magic" and "How to invoke magic" about invoking outer and inner dralas, maybe you can connect with it. more about relation to yourself and your environment than chanting formulas etc.

Thank you rai for great inspiration, what is origin of Chogyam Trungpa teachings? Is it Kalachakra?

A very great part of Rinpoche's teaching on this and similar subjects was derived from the writings of Mipham, who was active in reviving them, and other aspects of Tibetan culture not closely associated with scriptural Buddhism, such as Gesar material.

Coconut Man,

Sorry, I don't have them in digital form. You can find Dudjom Rinpoche's at TBRC in His sung-bum. Don't know if Pegyal Kingpa's sung-bum is also in TBRC, but you could do a search.

In any case, there are many, many such prayers from different lineages. This is anything specific to Dudjom Rinpoche or Pegyal Lingpa. So I'd simply ask your Teacher(s) if they hold such kinds of prayers and would They give it/them to you.
