Investigating a teacher for 12 years may be good advice but it’s not a sustainable economic model.
We really need a frank assessment of just how what we’ve come to know as dharma is an response to economic forces.
This is a really good point.
Meditate upon Bodhicitta when afflicted by disease

Meditate upon Bodhicitta when sad

Meditate upon Bodhicitta when suffering occurs

Meditate upon Bodhicitta when you are scared

Discussion of psychoanalysis has been moved to this thread in the Lounge. Please continue the conversation there, so this thread can remain about Sogyal Rinpoche. :thanks:

I have always wondered "why in the frak everyone wants their own centre, even in the exile can't they understand each other?"

Sectarism is really nocive.
true dharma is inexpressible.

The bodhisattva nourishes from bodhicitta, through whatever method the Buddha has given him. Oh joy.

I was in Gyantse early this summer.
One place, three sects.
When you enter the Lhakang during puja, you actually see three pujas happening, one to the left, one to the right, one to the centre.
It certainly takes energy to sort things out but for the visitor, it seemed as if they really get along with this. Not one group trying to sing louder than then other etc. This place and this way of joining practise and lineage really opened my heart. I wish there would be more of that.
Ho! All the possible appearances and existences of samsara and nirvana have the same source, yet two paths and two results arise as the magical display of awareness and unawareness.
