The following have been hinted at for quite some time:

If true, this report is quite remarkable:

HH 14th DL discussed an interpretation of the 6th DL's intentions as transitioning the DL institution to a non-monastic line (as a possibility, one could also interpret his intention as merely including the possibility of a non-monastic DL) many years ago. It appears that he will at least invoke the reformist spirit of the 6th DL as a model for the DL institution.

The first article seems quite speculative, and neither here nor there really.

When they provide some hard facts then we can take it seriously.

However, HHDL for sure, will choose a move which will outsmart the venomous tactics of PRC.

Very likely just rumors. A couple of those articles are dated back in early April. If they were true, I think it would have come out by now. However, HHDL is in his 80's, and we should expect to hear about natural decline. I can only hope to be as energetic and active as he is if I get to my 80's.

Also please note that the author of the last two of those linked articles is described as a journalist covering allegations of human rights abuses by the Tibetan Government and the Dalai Lama. Not much credibility there at all.

Here here!

The inevitability of HHDL's death is a certainty. I'm pretty sure there will be a successor and given the worldwide love there is for him, the whole thing is certain to bring a newfound interest and attention to Tibetan Buddhism unlike ever seen before on this planet. Anyhow, I wish HHDL long life and prosperity so that's that.
