I would like to visit Nepal for a month (second half of Dec. through January). I have not much of a plan except for going to Kathmandu and seeing what happens from there... Any advice about beautiful and holy places to visit... monasteries... wonderful teachers who offer teaching to foreigners... or any advice about Nepal in general?
And at the end of January, I'll go to sikkim for a week with a couple Kagyu friends from Taiwan. If you know of places or teachers to visit, I would be grateful to hear.

In Kathmandu, in addition to the usual Buddhist spots, you could try to visit the Tilopa & Naropa caves in Pashupatinath.
Just outside of Kathmandu is Guru Rinpoche's Asura cave in Pharping.
Bhaktapur is definitely worth a visit.
Finally, if you can swing it, a visit to Lumbini would be special.
