Ringu Tulku talk on The 14 Root Samayas of Vajrayana

Maybe an old/known record. Very interesting indeed being practitioner oneself or maybe if one is evaluating to being so.

The teaching on the 14 Root Samayas of Vajrayana, based on Ashvagosha’s text, was given by Rinpoche at Bodhicharya Berlin in Germany.

“Vajrayana practice without bodhisattva’s way of life – compassion – is not Vajrayana.” (00:56:50)

My understanding is the 14 root vows apply to all Inner Tantras in Nyingma and HYT so new school.

But Mahayoga, Anuyoga, and Atiyoga have their own vows also which are presented in Jamgon Kongtrul Buddhist Ethics.

The 22 general root and branch samayas come from the vase empowerment. The three inner empowerments also have their own separate samayas.
