観仏三昧海経 (Oceanic Samadhi Contemplating the Buddha Sutra?)
観仏三昧海経 (Oceanic Samadhi Contemplating the Buddha Sutra?)
Anyone know if there is an English translation?
There is no suffering to be severed. Ignorance and klesas are indivisible from bodhi. There is no cause of suffering to be abandoned. Since extremes and the false are the Middle and genuine, there is no path to be practiced. Samsara is nirvana. No severance achieved. No suffering nor its cause. No path, no end. There is no transcendent realm; there is only the one true aspect. There is nothing separate from the true aspect.

Cool. Not a translation, but very interesting links. Thanks, CM.

You could ask Rev. Jikai Queequeg, as it's a Pure Land contemplation and Tendai keeps and practices Pure Land visualization meditations. He'd know

I am familiar with the text. Zhiyi makes use of it. To my knowledge there are no English translations unfortunately. But I'll ask around. Otherwise, I can add it to the ever-growing 'to-do list' of translations.

You mean the Pratyutpanna Samadhi Sutra right? If so, BDK has a translation of it:

No, we are talking about the text named in the title of this thread: 觀佛三昧海經 The Contemplation of the Buddha Samadhi like the Sea Sutra.SonamTashi wrote: ↑Mon Jan 22, 2018 11:27 am You mean the Pratyutpanna Samadhi Sutra right? If so, BDK has a translation of it:

Re: 観仏三昧海経 (Oceanic Samadhi Contemplating the Buddha Sutra?)
Oh okay. The English titles are so similar (The Sutra of the Samadhi of Being in the Presence of All the Buddhas and Oceanic Samadhi Contemplating the Buddha Sutra) I thought it might be the same one, especially because Rory said it was a Pure Land contemplation. I was definitely confused as to why everyone was saying the Pratyutpanna Samadhi Sutra hadn't been translated into English.jikai wrote: ↑Mon Jan 22, 2018 11:51 amNo, we are talking about the text named in the title of this thread: 觀佛三昧海經 The Contemplation of the Buddha Samadhi like the Sea Sutra.SonamTashi wrote: ↑Mon Jan 22, 2018 11:27 am You mean the Pratyutpanna Samadhi Sutra right?
