Prayers for my Mother.

Post by Johnny Dangerous »

My Mom, one of my favorite people in the world, has apparently developed some pretty serious heart problems, and will quite possibly be undergoing surgery soon. I'd really appreciate if folks would run a few mala laps, dedicate, or whatever to her health and well-being.

Making aspirations for your mom to have successful surgery and a speedy recovery.

A quick mention on the medical side - If she is having open heart surgery, it helps to know ahead of time that patients typically don't start to feel "normal" for about six months after surgery. And many develop depression; some docs now prescribe antidepressants routinely to post-op patients. Cardiac rehab is a must, as are any diet/lifestyle changes that are recommended. Be her cheering section if you can.

Last time I asked ChNN about the best practice for someone with a heart condition he recommended Mandarava, so will perform that and dedicate to her.

Thanks much all. It looks like the situation has gotten a bit less severe, still scary but on the more acceptable side of scary.

You may wish to use this mantra for heart disease.

OM AH HRIH SINGANADA HUM PHAT

Equanimity is the ground. Love is the moisture. Compassion is the seed. Bodhicitta is the result.

-Paraphrase of Khensur Rinpoche Lobsang Tsephel citing the Guhyasamaja Tantra

"All memories and thoughts are the union of emptiness and knowing, the Mind.
Without attachment, self-liberating, like a snake in a knot.
Through the qualities of meditating in that way,
Mental obscurations are purified and the dharmakaya is attained."

Maybe cardiac coherent breathing may help her.
