Ebola never left, it was just contained for a while. Unfortunately there were then outbreaks in port towns and...
This from a doctor from Medecins Sans Frontieres that I was working with here in Lesbos who was called back to DRC (he is an Ebola specialist) and then returned after his mission to tell us the news.

A Norwegian doctor who specialized in treatment of ebola was infected with ebola herself a few years ago, in Sierra Leone. She was transported to a hospital in Norway, where she was given (at the time at least) the last dose in the world of the experimental drug Zmapp, and she made a full recovery. This however does not mean that Zmapp is a direct cure, because her recovery was due to multiple factors, such as being in an isolated ward in a section of the hospital which was fully prepared to handle such a case.

The step from this case to something like large-scale vaccinations is a huge step. We're not there yet.
