How to stop orgasms during meditation?
Re: How to stop orgasms during meditation?
I'm sure it must be very distracting.
However, you could try relaxing and simply letting it occur and then releasing it. In other words, not to treat it as a a distraction you want to struggle with.
Perhaps Dzogchen practice may be of help.

Re: How to stop orgasms during meditation?
It could be energy moving. It can be quiet intense sometime. I don't know your particular situation, but making that a problem will turn it into a problem.. Relax, focus on a deity, intensify your concentration on the deity. Don't resist. Let energy rise, dissociate from your mental conditionning and use it for your meditation. Then it will transform. Maybe behind energy there is bliss. But turn that into a problem, and it will bound you.
In some meditation when energy rise personaly it is powerful and could easily be turn into pleasure. I don't grasp at it. I keep my attention on the deity. Then it rise to the heart and bliss come.
Tantra is all about energy, aliveness and using everything, turning even what bind into something that liberate. Wisdom and guidance is requiered for good work.
Sexuality is such a big thing in our culture. It tells a lot about our immaturity on the subject. Everyone speak about it, everything can lot go of his semen easily, then sleep. But letting energy rise to the heart, turn it into bliss, it's something more interesting i guess. Difficult maybe, but belonging to human potential.

I have a teacher, but it's a man, and I don't really want to discuss it with him... I am looking for a female teacher now.Johnny Dangerous wrote:This is a thing, you should find a teacher.

Thanks for the thoughts. That's what I'm trying to do, but it's still quite overwhelming when it happens!Mantrik wrote:I'm sure it must be very distracting.

I don't know anything about dzogchen practice - could you give me a quick intro?
Re: How to stop orgasms during meditation?
Thank you, I think that's what I'm working on at the moment - being more aware of the energy when it's starting, and seeing whether it might transform. It's all very interesting, anyway!Soma999 wrote:It could be energy moving. It can be quiet intense sometime. Re: How to stop orgasms during meditation?
I'd discuss this with a male or female Ngakpa / Ngakma lama
as this has to do with your subtle body / chakras opening And it'd be good to get direct instruction how to bring it into the path
from a non-monastic specialist that will be experienced in sexuality as an aspect of practice. For now it may be good to just be open and spacious around it and allow it to happen just as you observe thoughts arising and passing. But that's just a humble recommendation and no replacement for instructions from a qualified Lama.

Where are you based? If it's possible, Lama Tsultrim Allione could be a good person to ask about this: http://taramandala.org/
She's female, a great teacher, very experienced, and from what I know she's worked a lot with how sexuality relates to the spiritual path.

A bit far from me, but thanks for the suggestion anyway!dharmafootsteps wrote:Where are you based? If it's possible, Lama Tsultrim Allione could be a good person to ask about this: http://taramandala.org/

Re: How to stop orgasms during meditation?
Noone has suggested to simply view the orgasm dispassionately? To accept and try to embrace neither clinging nor craving with this sensory phenomenon?
Perhaps simply begin trying to concentrate on the breath once again, without trying to judge or to analyze?
I have never experienced this situation, but I am sure it is nothing to be embarrassed about. It could be an opportunity to practice acceptance of the intricate and unique experience one is going through.
To me, meditation is an individual process and may not require a teacher... Of course, if a person could find a teacher they connect with this would be good, but it's not a necessary thing.
To the original poster, I hope you find the answers you need!!

I apologize I see that Mantrik posted this.

Since you do not have a teacher you feel comfortable speaking to, might I suggest visiting a monastery which houses nuns? Just ask if there are any very knowledgeable nuns residing there.
I can't say exactly what you are experiencing, but there are states in meditation that can feel remarkably similar to an orgasm. However, they are distinct in certain ways, as they do not usually involve the genitals. Rather feelings of bliss that arise that feel very close, if not almost exactly like an orgasm feels. For example, I have experienced intense bliss that felt very much like an intense orgasm, however, there was no stimulation of the genitals or any sort of 'discharge'.
If that is not the case, then I would suggest seeing both a teacher and a doctor. There is a medical condition that can cause this, but as far as it resulting from meditation, I have no idea. It could be that your body reacts to these feelings of bliss differently? In that, they affect your body more so than it would others. Though I am simply speculating, and you should really find someone knowledgeable.

A flash of lightning in a summer cloud,
A flickering lamp, a phantom, and a dream.

Re: How to stop orgasms during meditation?
actually there is no problem with that263748 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 03, 2017 9:46 am Okay, so this is a bit embarrassing, but less so here than discussing it in real life with other Buddhists....
I am a 45 year old woman and have been meditating about 4 years. Usually mindfulness of breathing, occasionally metta practice or just sitting. I sometimes have sits where I am just starting to get concentrated on my breath (although actually, I'm not all *that* concentrated) when - there are no two ways about it - my body has an orgasm (or several). Has anyone else experienced this? What is going on?!
It is frankly a bit distracting and disturbs my nice quiet breathing that I had been building up! Does anyone have any thoughts about how I can stop this happening? (I mean, there is a time and a place.... and the meditation cushion doesn't really seem to be it...)
sense of pleasure, orgasms, joy is normal
as we don't get attached
joy is linked to long life and wealth.
i ask you to please consider practice vajrayana, there are peacefull, joyfull and wrathfull Buddhas (and none of them is like statues...)
there you can find better lights on your experience.
tashi deleks!
true dharma is inexpressible.
The bodhisattva nourishes from bodhicitta, through whatever method the Buddha has given him. Oh joy.

there were two people who gave me Tara initiations , one a Geshe and the other a Rinpoche , where i had the same thing happen during the initiation and after.263748 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 03, 2017 9:46 am Okay, so this is a bit embarrassing, but less so here than discussing it in real life with other Buddhists....

It was weird but i had this non ejaculate orgasm during the practice from time to time. It got to the point when i did Cittamani Tara sadhana if it did not happen i felt it missing, or i was not doing the sadhana practice perfect enough.
At first it frightened me and then i thought it was like something really special...
so i asked a Rinpoche and he said it was purification. Just that.
Re: meditation is giving me orgasms! help!
Isn't sexual pleasure a violation of samaya? Especially for a man doing whatever to a picture? Or is a man doing that with an enlightened mind an excuse?CedarTree wrote: ↑Sun Sep 03, 2017 5:53 pmIn my time with woman it seems there are two types or orgasms possible. It could be with your breathing that you are getting to the state of extreme piti.
(Piti) = physical pleasure. Since it is not associated with an object or desire it is usually free and can be an all-body type effect. As someone allows this state to develop it can be so intense that people literally can start shaking while in sitting posture and feeling overwhelmed.
This can be a place for Jhana absorption if you would like to learn about that meditation style.
Again describing subjective things is quite hard. It does seem though that your having classic "rapture" effects and possibly ready for Jhana.
Shoot me a msg if you want some more instructions and or good resources for guiding your practice from this point.

What samaya Tenma?
There are plenty of samaya, plenty of vows. In some cases it can be, in other it is not.
In fact, in The Lamp for the Path to Enlightenment by Jamgon Kongtrul Lodro Thaye it is said that some empowerments are forbidden to those who follow certain vows (celibate).
As for an orgasm, maybe winds in your subtle body are moving here and there - its always best to ask your teacher in such situations, im pretty sure u will find an answers you seek during that speach. Even if it will be "observe, dont attach yourself to it"

Luke

I would have responded along These lines. And this is what dzogchen is about.
When you practice, you see what is coming, what is going, you don't judge.
Additionally you may ask yourself - in a silent Moment after practice maybe - which expectations do you have on Meditation? Which Patterns or projections apply between you and your male Guru that impede you from addressing this to hmi? Is there part of you that disapproves of this orgasmic experience?
I am told that in the Uterus lies creativity. If this is the case, embrace your creative Qualities, don't push anything away.
You could even Interpret this coming up as a good sign.
Best of luck and Keep on practicing.

Re: How to stop orgasms during meditation?
My first reaction was that its not an orgasm in the sense that it could be measured by a scientist, but rather kundalini-shakti bursting out of its slumbering state, and as suggested manifesting as piti - which can resemble an orgasm in some ways, it can feel like electrical current, electrical shock, or like rolling thunder. In the case of awakened spiritual energy it goes UP the spine to higher centers. I only notice it in the higher 3 chakras, but thats not to say others might notice it in the entire spine or some other areas. Anyway, my point is, kundalini is an expression of prana which is usually both spiritual and sexual at the same time. Sexual energy is normally expressed as a kind of "reward" for propagating the species, but i'm sure its not the only way that it manifests in human physiology. Its a complicated subject.
