Shinto shrine vandalized

Historic Japanese shrine in Taipei has been vandalized and one of its statues has been stolen

Terrible. No one expects anyone else to believe their religious beliefs but respecting them isn't a big ask.

I agree, but the political questions related to the old State Shinto and colonialism might well be the real issue here!

Probably you're right, but it's a shame to destroy a part of cultural history (or any history) regardless.

Japanese colonialism was not so nice. could be revenge attack for sure. if my country was taken over by violent imperialist ppl i would feel like smashing all their shit too
