I prefer Papa John's as far as chain pizza goes

I know it's California pizza, but my favorite local pizza shop is a place in Manhattan Beach called Papa Guido's. Amazing calzones. And I say that as a person who grew up in New Jersey.

Do you have X-treme pizza down there?
Their "white out" pizza is great.

I'm not familiar with that, not sure. I'll have to look for it :) Is that a white pizza? White pizza is actually my favorite when it's done well (I'm veg).

The name confused me the first time I got it (I thought it was because the mushrooms, but it didn't look white).
Its a cheeseless veggie pizza; so the white of the cheese, is out of the pizza.
It blew my mind. I'm vegan, so I don't eat cheese, but the white out demonstrated that if you have good crust, sauce and toppings you don't need any sort of cheese or cheese replacement and it can be delicious. (my wife, who is vegetarian but not vegan likes it too, so it's not just me!)

Oh, you mean like human beings originally being Asparas etc. And their downfall being greed and sensual pleasure? Don't need the Garden of Eden story for the gist.
Well, what I have in mind is idealization of some other time and place. The happy primitive - the counter to the primitive Locke imagined whose life was "nasty brutish short".
It's been a while since I've looked into this stuff, so my memory is murky, but iirc there a number of anthropologists who claim that true hunter gatherer societies were compatively quite a bit less violent..at least in some respects. I would have to read up again to be sure. Agriculture and land onwership is quite the incentive.
How much of not being violent is a matter of little competition for resources? Once population hits a certain density and foraging and game are not providing enough, something has to give and I would imagine its the side that can't defend their territory. Population is one of the root factors of many, if not most of our major problems.
The Mongols, nomadic tribes sack8ng Rome et. hardly qualify as a hunter gatherer society, and its also hard to evaluate them on anything but an individual basis, plus they are in competition..other than cannibalism, it's hard to imagine what you think could be more 'vicious' than the horrors that civilization has brought us.
This is a good point. I take back those examples.

I think you mean Hobbes, who would probably have disapproved of the prohibition of marijuana.

On a lark I decided to try some weed last week. There are no stores where you can buy it in my area, you have to get it delivered. Very easy to get though. Just do an internet search for recreational cannabis and find a local distributor. You can order via texting (also texting a photo of your drivers license). I ordered a variety high in CBD and low in THC. CBD has relaxing effects and THC gets you high.

It had been many years since I had tried it so it did prove to be somewhat of a novel experience. What was most interesting is the way it kind of shifts your perspective on things. Even physical sensations feel sort of different, in a good way.

That's a common pizza menu choice here in Greece because during the Orthodox fast periods (leading up to Easter, Christmas and the Assumption of the Virgin Mary) the consumption of cheese is not allowed.

I just realized this. MIght have to stop by here, just out of curiosity, of course. :woohoo:
I have never understood the obsession with marijuana, both for and against. It seems to be some kind of hyper-dualistic fetish.

Naturally I am all for the use of medicinal marijuana when this is appropriate for the patient.

A couple of times with friends .... (literally a couple of times).

So anyway, what is the obsession about?

It's SO good.
Is the fast like a no-meat no-cheese no-alcohol kind of fast?
