On a serious note, what exactly was so great about Oprah's speech? Just read a transcript. Meh.

Nothing remarkable, to a friendly audience.

People will seemingly lap up anything these days as "resistance" to Drumpf. The bar was already so low on the left for what constituted functional mainstream politics, just bland pablum really. I'd expected that Trump's presidency might shore up people's expectations and make them demand more. Sadly, in many cases it's done the opposite so far. The result is adoration for the possible political aspirations of someone like Oprah, or things like fond liberal reminiscences of Bush II, one of the most odious things I've seen since the beginning of Drumpfs presidency. Yuck.

Same here. I just woke up one morning and the world was talking about Oprah for president, with no idea where this came from.

Tonight I'm hearing they have poll numbers showing Oprah with a 10% lead over Trump in 2020, 49% of voters would vote for her over 39% for Trump. If Trump wasn't already prez, I'd think this was a bizarre joke. Revolutionizing reality tv for sure.

So who controls the president in your eyes? I'd say the locus of control is very hard to pinpoint, if at all possible. One side wants Nafta, Daca, ACA, etc. the other wants to dismantle those policies. If you mean multinational corporations, then why is there the back and forth on these issues? I ask because I sincerely want to know what you think.

I don't think it's as simple as the Bilderbergs are controlling all the world politics. There are forces that oppose each other, even at the highest levels. Hence Oprah is a billionaire who detests Trump, another billionaire's, policies. There are multiple powerful forces at work with differing agendas and the current and never ending chaos is a result.

I saw those something about one of the polls myself. It's telling.

I’m a little embarrassed to admit that I teared-up at one point. Still, and not that I’m unsympathetic to the cause, they layed on the MeToo theme rather heavily.

I voted for Obama, and for Trump, and if Trump doesn't get the Great Cartel Deflector built on the southern border, I'm voting for Oprah.

So who controls the president in your eyes?
Mainly business interests: petroleum corporations, arms industry lobbies, that sort of stuff. More economic than political control. Mind you, in capitalism economics and politics are the same thing.
If you mean multinational corporations, then why is there the back and forth on these issues?
Because different corporations have different (and sometimes conflicting) interests but a common goal: $$$
I don't think it's as simple as the Bilderbergs are controlling all the world politics.
The Bilderbergs don't control all world politics, that is a conspiracy theory up there on the same shelf with the Illuminati and the Elders of Zion.

Well if its just a matter of celebrity, my vote is for the Rock. Jesse Ventura had a similar background in professional wrestling and he did OK in Minnesota. A guy who regularly appeared in public dressed in nothing but his skivvies doesn't have much to hide. And he seems like a nice guy. His character on Ballers is pretty awesome.

AND he's got a positive connection to the #metoo movement, too:

Idiocracy: it seems fiction has become reality.

It can't be all bad.

Look, if we take this idiocracy to its extreme, we might be able to avert wars in the future by holding head of state pay per view cage matches. In which case, again, the Rock 2020!

Hillary would kick his ass. She is a very tough woman.
