Never mind the trivia

Post by Simon E. » Sat Mar 24, 2018 5:09 pm

I am about to watch something of real importance..the annual Oxford/Cambridge Boat Race.
As the husband of one Oxford graduate and the grandfather of another I have to say

Come on Oxford!
If you use the word 'mind' without defining your terms I will ask you politely for a definition.
This is not to be awkward. But it's really not self-explanatory.

Well...Cambridge won comfortably. Slightly grudging applause for the 'tabs. :applause:

There's always next year..Its being going for 164 years. Its one of the oldest sporting fixtures in the calendar.

"To love. To be loved. To never forget your own insignificance. To never get used to the unspeakable violence and the vulgar disparity of life around you. To seek joy in the saddest places. To pursue beauty to its lair. To never simplify what is complicated or complicate what is simple. To respect strength, never power. Above all, to watch. To try and understand. To never look away. And never, never, to forget." –Arundhati Roy

Somehow I don't think my university will ever produce rowing championships. Wales specialises in coracles. ;)
