The FBI does a lot of things like go after criminals. They are critical in maintaining the rule of law.

They've also done some shady stuff against political groups and figures.

Saying they've done nothing in the public good ever does not inspire confidence about anything else that is said about them. It's just so biased is undercuts all other points as just ideological rhetoric.
I didn't say theyd never done anything good, I said they are almost always on the wrong side of history in terms of political groups targeted. That really shouldn't be controversial.

If that's what you meant I take your word but you did actually say they serve no public good.

Police are by function conservative. Sometimes they are criminally awful.

Hopefully, this will all be a footnote, like the Whisky Rebellion and Shay's Rebellion, and Black Panthers, and Weathermen, Bloody Kansas. Hopefully its not a chapter in US History text books.
Perhaps. But I feel your view of how this will play out is Panglossian.

I've paroozed the comment sections of Fox News and Breitbart in the last few days, and then looked at what I suppose are the left wing equivalents at Media Matters & Salon. There's a clear and substantial difference between them in reasoning level or critical thinking, as you might imagine there would be, but one notable difference is in how Trump supporters (not necessarily conservatives or Republicans) talk about liberals. To put it bluntly, they appear to have an irrational fear or hatred of them, and seem to have a tendency to lump them all together, as though they're speaking of an inferior ('Libtarded' and morally deficient) race of people. The liberal equivalents don't seem to do this, at least not nearly as much. If they did then I would be a lot more concerned about the polarization escallating to wide-scale violence. Of course this is based on the comment sections of online news outlets and may not be representative of anything real.
