I have a good story regarding "Buddhism for Dummies." I've thought about posting it, but not sure if it oversteps the rules about not sharing our experiences. Are we not supposed to talk about meeting "real" like 10th Bhumi Bodhisattvas???

Well, I don't think there are any such rules so feel free to do so, perhaps in a new thread. I, for one, am curious now.

That's all the encouragement I need (I'm such a push over). Story thread on its way.

Prisoner's cinema

Phosphene

Closed-eye hallucination

Some part related to visions is known throughout all samsara. Without being in dharmakaya \ trekcho, this is useless in the best case.

Hi Bubbles,
Maybe consider starting the curriculum at https://www.ewamyangti.org

These trainings progress through the following sequence: 1-ngondro (preliminary practices) 2-tsasum (three roots) sadhana practices focused on kyerim (development stage) 3-tsalung (subtle channels and energies training) including tummo and trulkhor 4-Dzogchen (Great Perfection) practices including rushen, trekcho, and togel. Each section of teachings is taught by Tulku Sang-ngag with additional instruction given by both Tibetan and western practitioners.
The profound path of the master.

Yes.
I accidently read a sentence on a thogal, or thogal-related, practice in a bookstore and was amused to find that it was very similar to something I had learned as a kid in summer camp!

The two things I took away from it was:
1) Be careful looking at books (I honor ChNN wishes to wait until the teachings are received fully)
2) Whatever Thogal exactly is (I'm sure it's wonderful), it's nothing unless fully integrated with trekcho & contemplation. THAT is where it's at.

I've heard that the Palyul tradition teaches Thogal before Trekcho. Any thoughts on that?

It's not exactly what you might think.

I'm not interested in the technical details of the togal at all. I guess there is nothing special judging by what Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche wrote about his visions. Visions, phosphen, etc., is more about cittaja-rupa in Abhidhamma or some kind of abhyavakasika\parikalpita\vaibhutrika rupa for me. This is all useless if there is no right view. Even if you saw the image of Padmasambhava but this is just an interpretative picture of heruka\pure skandhas like Hevajra or Amitabha image. It would be more interesting to develop the ability to communicate with those Mahasattvas. The technical details are simple in Abhidharma as one citta can project a body with the world but I have no idea how to realize this. Most likely in deep concentration but such abilities are very rare. What is the way to communicate with saints? Get rid of kleshas?

Bubbles wrote: Hi Kevin,

Thank you. I've been practicing Mahamudra for a few years, including generation and completion stage practices; and have also been practicing meditation on emptiness. I am newer to the Dzogchen system, but suspect some of these practices to translate.
Hi Kathy, you would still need to practice trekcho for years to stabilize your Dzogchen practice.

Live transmission. Wether in person or via a webcast (as in the case with Chogyal Namkhai Norbu), or via skype, facetime, etc. Any format that is live.

Malcolm, within obvious constraints, is there anything more you can say about this? I've always been curious about this, myself.
