Nyingma in London

I recently moved to London, and I hope I may be able to meet teachers here.

http://dzogchencommunityuk.org/

and there are also the rigpa centers, however I can only see scheduled events, or nothing specific in their webpages, and I have not had the chance to visit yet.

Does anyone have experience with these or other centers in London? Are there lamas living here, or is it only possible to meet one that is visiting?

Views vary. I'd avoid them as there are other groups with a more mainstream approach.

Aro gTer have been discussed quite a lot, and my take on it is that they are kind and sincere but misdirected.

London has many visiting Nyingma Lamas who are worth tracking down, such as Dzogchen Rinpoche and (not this year) Lopon Ogyan Tanzin Rinpoche.

Dzogchen Rinpoche does not seem to be visiting either this year, judging by a schedule I found online.

Thanks, is there a website where you can keep track of visiting lamas, or do you have to keep checking individual centers etc?

Facebook is useful. There is a new group called Tibetan Buddhism in uk which tries to focus on teachings and events in UK.

I think Sogyal Rinpoche has a weekend of teachings in June...if you are able to travel.. Chikyi Nyima Rinpoche will be giving a week of teachings on buddha nature/ nature of mind at Gomde UK in 2 weeks time.

Hi,

Don't discount the fact that in this day and age you can also connect with some teachers through technology. For example, if you are interested in Dzogchen teachings, Namkhai Norbu Rinpoche regarly gives webcasts (He is a famous teacher and http://dzogchencommunityuk.org/ is the website of one of his centers).

Also, there is Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche who is giving webcasts and has a wonderful youtube channel where you can connect with some teachings (https://www.youtube.com/user/ligmincha).

Don't discount the fact that you can hook up with teachers online and then visit during holidays.

Thanks. I subscribed to the Dzogchen Community recently, I hope I will be able to follow the next webcasts, and maybe attend one of the retreats this summer in person.

Also, just because Namkhai Norbu Rinpoche is very old now that should not make people think that they should not connect with him (some may feel that they cannot form a strong bond unless they know there is many, many years, and so on). He is an amazing Dzogchen Master and people should connect with him now while they can, if they feel interested.

Then, at the very least they will also receive lungs for many practices, including the very important Song of the Vajra, which may become important for them later.

So therefore people should keep this in mind.

Everyone does things differently, and what is hard and fast in one tradition is not necessarily so in another. And the thing is that Lingmincha is Bön, not Nyingma. Some Bönpos say Bön is Buddhist, some don't; some Buddhists sat Bön is Buddhist, some don't. Anyway, for all the "borrowing" back and forth, Bön is at least a different lineage.

I havent really looked into Bon before. The dedication prayer given in that course talks about attaining Buddhahood. I was thinking whether I should watch the videos about tsa lung and the breathings or not. I think I will leave them for the time being.
