I guess, depending on your approach, you would need to have it filled properly and blessed.

Most statues are mass produced nowadays anyway, by factories that are in no way connected to Dharma institutions, so...

This was one of a number of warehouses I saw in Bangkok.

At the same time they had these signs in markets and temples that sold decorative Buddhas everywhere:

I once watched a show on TV which was about Thailand. One part of the show took you inside a buddha statue factory, where they employed (or at least engaged) a Buddhist monk to bless the statues as they came off the production line, before being packed in cartons and sent to market.
So, with a bit of luck in the running it may come pre-blessed.
