goodness is what comes to pass.
For those who do non-virtuous actions,
that becomes suffering indeed.

Im sure its a real hot seller.
"All phenomena of samsara depend on the mind, so when the essence of mind is purified, samsara is purified. Since the phenomena of nirvana depend on the pristine consciousness of vidyā, because one remains in the immediacy of vidyā, buddhahood arises on its own. All critical points are summarized with those two." - Longchenpa
Re: Strange times
What is strange about this? Guru Rinpoche dispels all demons.
May all beings be free from suffering and causes of suffering

Disrespectful. We should wage a buddhist jihad against the makers of these products.

Be careful. On the internet, some people will think you are serious.ford_truckin wrote: ↑Mon Nov 26, 2018 5:35 amDisrespectful. We should wage a buddhist jihad against the makers of these products.

You're right. Thanks for pointing that out.Lingpupa wrote: ↑Mon Nov 26, 2018 10:00 amBe careful. On the internet, some people will think you are serious.ford_truckin wrote: ↑Mon Nov 26, 2018 5:35 amDisrespectful. We should wage a buddhist jihad against the makers of these products.
To those who think I was serious: It was a joke.
Re: Strange times
seriously, once I have seen buddha figure pretty big, and it had on the top of head an ashtray, with button to press and the bottom of ash.t. would spin and go down... so cigarettes could drop inside.. an adult sitting on a chair could drop ash on it easily.. so it had about 60 cm height
buddhist figures in the West are used often simply for the design or amusment as part of an interior, and are used for different purposes. just oriental thing which is for many people pretty cool.

Re: Strange times
Serious question: is there any reason why I should not buy this? I don't have a statue of Guru Rinpoche, and this looks like a decent price, depending on the size.

Re: Strange times
I dunno really. I think that if you see it IRL and see that the quality is good then why not really. I think I have read somewhere that even a bad statue of Buddha is still a statue of Buddha... sooo. Why not really. At least AFAIK. It is a good question.Thomas Amundsen wrote: ↑Tue Nov 27, 2018 7:09 pm Serious question: is there any reason why I should not buy this? I guess, depending on your approach, you would need to have it filled properly and blessed.Thomas Amundsen wrote: ↑Tue Nov 27, 2018 7:09 pm Serious question: is there any reason why I should not buy this? Most statues are mass produced nowadays anyway, by factories that are in no way connected to Dharma institutions, so...
This was one of a number of warehouses I saw in Bangkok.
At the same time they had these signs in markets and temples that sold decorative Buddhas everywhere:
"My religion is not deceiving myself."
Jetsun Milarepa 1052-1135 CE
"Butchers, prostitutes, those guilty of the five most heinous crimes, outcasts, the underprivileged: all are utterly the substance of existence and nothing other than total bliss."

FWIW, Bhakha Rinpoche told me that HH Dudjom Rinpoche said rupas do not need to be filled and consecrated.Thomas Amundsen wrote: ↑Wed Nov 28, 2018 1:32 amMakes sense.
