Hello, I have a question about the Gelugpa tradition of recognizing Je Tsongkhapa as the embodiment of Avalokitshvara, Manjushri, and Vajrapani. I am wondering about the origins of this trinity. I realize that before Tsongkhapa, these same three deities were said to have manifested as Tibet's three great dharma kings. Is there any tradition saying that Guru Rinpoche (or anyone else) is the combination of these three deities, that might have inspired the Gelugpa practice?
