Dorje Phagmo in Rechung Nyengyu

Post by Palzang Jangchub »

In trying to find a Drikung Kagyu sadhana on Troma Nakmo, i managed to find a couple of sadhanas from the Rechung Nyengyu within the Drikung Chödzod Chenmo. This is exciting to me as Garchen Rinpoche's student, since he is said to be the reincarnation of Rechungpa and the tradition of cotton-clad yogis is of particular interest.

Is anyone here knowledgeable about the Rechung Nyengyu practices in general, or the practice of Dorje Phagmo specifically (and especially Phagmo Nakmo)? The two sadhanas in question are the phag mo nag mo sgrub thabs from the snyan brgyud las/ rdo rje phag mo lha mo bco lnga ma dang lha mo bdun ma/ lha mo lnga ma/ phag mo thugs sgrub/ section (https://www.tbrc.org/#!rid=O4CZ2522%7CO ... 00JW501203) and the phag nag thugs sgrub from the snyan brgyud las section (https://www.tbrc.org/#!rid=O4CZ2522|O4C ... 00JW501203).

I believe that Troma Nakmo is referred to in the Yangzab Dzogchen terma cycle as "Black Varahi" (phag mo nag mo), but please feel free to correct me if i'm erroneously equating the two and that term can be used of another yidam deity...

Do any Drikungpas here know if there are Drikung lamas who hold the lineage for the Rechung Nyengyu in general, and specificially the texts mentioned above?

"The Sutras, Tantras, and Philosophical Scriptures are great in number. However life is short, and intelligence is limited, so it's hard to cover them completely. You may know a lot, but if you don't put it into practice, it's like dying of thirst on the shore of a great lake. Likewise, a common corpse is found in the bed of a great scholar." ~ Karma Chagme

This Black Varahi as it says in Phagnag thugdrub is by Tsangpa Gyare and Khyungtsangpa, who were both holders of Rechung Nyengyu, the shorter text was written by Marpa based on the words of lord Naropa.

The editor of Drikung Chodzo was Agon Rinpoche, who was a teacher of certain Rase Konchog Gyatso -Tagpo Chenga Rinpoche

so I suppose, he is the holder of the lineage for this particular collection. As for holder of Rechung Nyengyu within Drikung, I think this would be someone living in Drikung Thil. If you have a chance of meeting Khenchen Konchog Gyaltsen Rinpoche, ask him, he will know for sure.
